I trained as a nurse in St Vincent’s Hospital in
Dublin and subsequently worked in London at Guy’s
Hospital, the Middlesex Hospital and the Harley
Street Clinic. I then went to work in Boston
U.S.A at the Robert Breck Brigham Hospital which
was the Harvard Research Centre for arthritis and
also at the New England Baptist Hospital.
I have lived in the Philippines and Ethiopia where I was heavily involved in the provision of health advice on a voluntary basis to the diplomatic community. While living in Guyana ‘I worked for the American Embassy as a nurse practitioner. On my return to Ireland I worked for some years in the Outpatients Department of St Vincent’s Hospital.
I was drawn to Reflexology having personally experienced its benefits. I graduated from the “Beaumont Institute of Complementary Therapies” in 1995. I have subsequently completed training in Oligotherapy, Indian Head Massage, Auricular Therapy, Metamorphosis, Thought Field Therapy and Reiki Part 1.
I have done numerous Reflexology Post Graduate courses including: Advanced Techniques, Vertical Reflexology, Reproductive /Maternity Reflexology and care of clients undergoing cancer treatments.
In recent years I transferred from orthodox medicine to Complementary medicine, believing in the not too distant future both types will be compatible. I have now achieved my aim of straddling the two disciplines and am now mainly treating clients with Hepatitis C acquired through contaminated blood products. I also work with pregnant clients and those with infertility of unknown origin.
For the past 8 years I have been heavily involved in the running of the Irish Reflexologists’ Institute serving as Chairperson, Vice chairperson, and Education officer. I am an accredited Assessor and Examiner for this organisation. I also headed the team who organised the “Reflexology in Europe Conference” in Limerick in 2002
I am passionate about Reflexology and use this therapy more than any other, finding it the most effective tool in maintaining good health.
